So I just wanted to do a little post to say how grateful I am for the talented people I have been blessed with in my life - and I don’t use the word “blessed” very lightly, being mostly agnostic, but it seems pretty accurate in this instance.

I’m sure a few of you caught the video Clinical Trials put out last month.  It’s not for the faint of heart (I’m guessing it would get a PG-13…?) so you’ve been warned, Mom. [She actually was quite disturbed by the ending.  Way to go, Somer.  Traumatize your poor innocent parents.]

This video is the brainchild - start to finish - of Kaz Phillips Safer.  She wrote, produced, shot, and edited this lesbian samurai picnic allegory for the struggle of falling in love.  Well, that’s how I interpret it, anyway!

Kaz’s husband is rad choreographer Dan Safer, and he donated his mind to our artistic undertaking.  Yep, all that dance fighting was his work, embodied in expensive ballroom gowns (care of Preston Hollow’s thrift store…)  And we roped our friend Vanessa Koppel into playing my nemesis!  Be on the lookout for more work from this actress on the rise.

The “Whip It” video was a super fast production - Kaz had the idea right away, plotted out the plans, and we prepped in shot in a couple of days.  But sometimes things happen on a whole different timeline….Dan LeMunyan, who actually graced Clinical Trials with his drumming skills a few years ago, is a sick editor and animator who approached me about making a video as early as a year ago.  Yep.  I believe August 2011 was his first mention of it.  The EP  came out and he was a fan, and it took until April of this year for us to finally set a firm date to shoot!

I would say…it was well worth the wait. Check out Dan’s site for more awesomeness.  He also drove every aspect of the creative on this one, along with Director of Photography - and his lovely wife! - Michelle Collins.  And I owe them both a proper brunch!
